Landscape Painting from the Field to the Studio

  • Ardis DeFreece Art & Instruction 2396 Hwy 141 Trout Lake, WA USA (map)

NOTE:
THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD ONLINE
THIS CLASS CAN BE TAKEN ASYNCHRONOUSLY
NO CLASS ON 11/27

In this 8 week class, students will learn techniques for landscape painting in Oil and Acrylic. You may choose to work in one or the other, or both, as I do. We will work on sketching and planning, working from life and from photographs, working in different conditions, making changes for composition, color and contrast, and paint handling. With the paint, we will work on underpainting and different painting methods and styles. Students will also learn about line, values, composition, color mixing, blending and glazing. Each week we will take on a different subject and work on it for the 2 hour class. It is not expected that you will finish a painting each week, but that you will be able to begin the piece, make progress, and complete the work at your own pace. Some pieces will carry over to the following week for techniques that require a dry underpainting or glazing, etc. This class is for Beginning - Intermediate level painters. Please feel free to contact Ardis if you have questions at adefreece@willamette.edu
